Rachel Loker, IBM
I decided to undertake a placement because I wasn't sure what career I wanted to go into after university, and a placement year was a great way to gain some experience and see if this was a career I would want to pursue.
The best things about my placement are the new people I have met, the break from uni stress and a freedom to experience the working world on my own.
A placement will help me in my final year as I have 100% improved my time keeping and organisation skills. I can use this when it comes to assignments and work loads.
If you could give a student one piece of advice about securing a placement it would be to ensure you be yourself throughout the recruitment process so you stand out from the generic answers. And, and get involved in the things that interest you throughout the year so you get the most out of it.
