I have worked for Keele’s partnership programme with Beijing Foreign Studies University since September 2018. Prior to this I worked for a similar partnership involving Oxford Brookes and Staffordshire Universities, in Chengdu. I completed my PhD in the History of Political Thought at Queen Mary UL and studied political thought at Christ’s College, Cambridge (MPhil) and International Relations at the Centre for the Study of Democracy, Westminster (MA).

Research and scholarship

My principal research interest is in the history of international thought in Victorian Britain. My PhD thesis looked at the evolution of conservative international thought in this context, and my current work in progress is drawing out its implications for the history of IR theory, specifically.

Academic year 2018-19 I teach Global Political Sociology and Business and Management. The following years I will, provisionally, teach Introduction to International Relations and A History of International Relations since 1945. In the past I have taught modules such as Critical Reasoning, Applied Business Research, Introduction to Intellectual History, and The British Empire in Political Thought.
