FODEN'S BAND & KEELE UNIVERSITY PARTNERSHIP BRASS MASTERCLASS AND CONCERT

Keele University Music & Music Technology is calling all keen brass instrumentalists to come and play with the legendary Foden’s Band in a fantastic and free workshop.

The workshop is set to take place between 2-5pm on Saturday 23 April with seven Foden’s tutors leading participants through masterclasses in Warming up; Performance techniques and Ensemble playing (band and sectional) followed by a Q&A. There will also be the chance to chat to staff and students from Keele University about studying for a degree in Music or Music Technology. The workshop band will then play a set in the evening concert.

In the evening award winning ‘Foden’s Band’ will join forces with Keele University Brass Band to present a spectacular array of music in celebration of St George’s Day. 

Foden’s Band are one of the leading Brass Bands in the world winning a rare and exceptional “Double”, being crowned 2012 British Open champions and the 2012 National Champions of Great Britain. Around the world Foden’s Band is a trademark that musicians associate with inestimable class and musicianship.

This fact is reflected in the wide variety of countries that the band has toured; Italy, Switzerland, America, Ireland, France, Norway, Finland and Israel to name but a few. The band also regularly appear on BBC TV and Radio. The University Brass Band aim to achieve high music standards whilst keeping the enjoyment of playing entertaining music intact. The band warmly welcomes University staff and members of the local community to join their ranks.

This is the first concert celebrating a new partnership between the Fodens Band and Keele University’s Music and Music Technology Programmes. The partnership endeavours to bring top class brass musicians to the University to perform and work with students and composers, plus young brass musicians from the wider local community.
The Brass Masterclass is free and open to performers of all ages and levels from beginner to intermediate. Workshop participants will also gain free entry to the concert following the workshop session.
