The role for Higher Education in a changing world

Posted on 06 May 2015

The Keele University Chancellor Jonathon Porritt CBE will be taking part in an event, 'The role for Higher Education in a changing world' open to all staff and students and the wider Keele community, from 12.00 – 1.30 pm on Monday, 18 May, in the Westminster Theatre, Chancellor’s Building.

This event follows on from the lectures, ‘Our Unknown Future’ and ‘Our Positive Future', with Q+A sessions, that Jonathon has given to staff and students at Keele over the last two years.  The panel will discuss what they think the role of higher education will, and should, be in a changing world.  This will be followed by a public Question and Answer session.

The session will consider current trends in both student demand within Higher Education and the changing nature of the world, and aims to question the role for HE in supporting the drive towards global prosperity.  Dr Sherilyn MacGregor, from the School of Politics, International Relations, Philosophy and Environment, will chair the event.

Jonathon will be joined by:

- Jamie Agombar, Head of Sustainability, National Union of Students, and Winner of the Guardian University Award for 'Inspiring Leadership'

- Bolu Oyewale, President of Keele Students' Union

- Dr Zoe Robinson, Reader in Physical Geography and Sustainability, Director of Education for Sustainability, Keele University

Staff, students and the wider Keele community are all invited to the event and to contribute questions.  Booking is not required.
