I really enjoyed the lessons, whether it was the practical sessions, whether we were coming on CEC. I went on different placements and different wards and everyone was amazing. The apprenticeship has given me the opportunity to meet new friends and have a university experience while still working, because I've never been to university before.
I could use my previous experience to gain a masters degree out of it. I think that it's really valuable getting on the job experience. It teaches you whether you'd enjoy the job. Being confident to develop my own material, theories, methodologies so that I can instil that in the students teaching. I'm actually able to talk to these areas in other government departments, and actually talk to them about how they can deliver biodiversity targets.
You have this information at your finger tips, which you know will improve your business. It was a way to continue my learning, to develop my career but still to be able to earn money and a salary and provide for my family. The impact that apprenticeships has had on Dougie Mac has been amazing and that really does enhance the care that we deliver.
