Prof. Frederic Tripet will work within the consortium to develop new approaches aiming to reduce the population of malaria-transmitting mosquitoes in sub-Saharan Africa.

'Target Malaria', which is sponsored by the National Institutes for Health and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, is a not-for-profit research consortium that aims to develop and share technology for malaria control.  Target Malaria started as a university-based programme and has grown to include scientists, stakeholder engagement teams, risk assessment specialists and regulatory experts from Africa, North America and Europe.

Prof. Frederic Tripet from CAEP, will work alongside scientists from Imperial College, Oxford, Cambridge, Notre Dame and partner Institutions MRTC in Mali, IRSS in Burkina Faso and UVRI in Ouganda.  The consortium aims to develop new approaches to reduce the population of malaria-transmitting mosquitoes in sub-Saharan Africa, thereby decreasing the incidence of the disease. The project was recently nominated for the WIRED Innovation Awards.
