Dr William Kirk invited to speak to Entomological Society of America
Dr William Kirk, Senior Lecturer in the School of Life Sciences, gave an invited presentation at the annual conference of the Entomological Society of America last week in Austin, Texas.
The presentation, entitled "Aggregation pheromones of thrips and their use in pest management", was part of a session on the use of aggregation pheromones for pest management across a wide range of insects. Aggregation pheromones offer new ways of managing insect pests that reduce reliance on chemical insecticides. Dr Kirk studies thrips, which are important agricultural pests, at Keele's Research Centre for Applied Entomology and Parasitology (CAEP). The conference was attended by about 3,000 entomologists.
