Keele University partners with BHF Shops

Posted on 06 June 2013

Keele University has teamed up with British Heart Foundation Shops (BHF) to launch a new scheme to encourage students to donate unwanted things and help generate vital stock. 100% of the profits raised will go towards the fight against heart disease and fund the BHF’s life-saving research.

The new scheme will see the BHF provide 5 donation bins and BHF collection bags at 5 key drop off points located around Keele University campus.

To make the new campaign a success, Keele University and the BHF are urging both students and staff to raid their wardrobes and donate any items that are no longer wanted. BHF Shops are always in need of clothing, shoes, accessories, CDs, DVDs, books, kitchenware and small electrical items.

Catherine Argyle, Regional Stock Generator at the BHF comments: “We’re excited to be working alongside Keele University to encourage students to donate their unwanted goods to us. This scheme will be a huge help to our Shops in the Keele area and I’d like to encourage students to get involved and support the new scheme. Coronary heart disease is the UK’s single biggest killer, shattering the lives of too many children, parents and grandparents - you can join the fight for every heartbeat by having a clear out and using the new facilities to donate your unwanted things.”

Huw Evans, Environmental Manager, comments: “This is the perfect opportunity for our students to be both charitable and environmentally friendly with their unwanted items. We hope that all our students and staff take advantage of this convenient new service by having a clear out and donating their unwanted items.”

Collection bins for the Keele University will be located at each of the Halls of Residence.
