Open-mic and Celebration evening
Refreshments provided, FREE, all welcome!

Please join us in Chapter's Cafe for an evening celebrating the work of visual artist Daby Obiechefu, and the exhibtion 'I see you, I hear you.' There will be an open opportunity for those who wish to share their own work, experiences, and stories in a open-mic setting, alongside a handful of other performances.

-

'I see you, I hear you' is a visual art project that encourages the consideration of men's mental health through painting and mixed media. Bright colours are used as a form of celebration and appreciation, while elements of mental health (that may not be discussed often) are also depicted in a literal and abstract manner. This body of work not only introduces discussions of mental health, but aims to expand on insights of self-awareness, emotional communication and to explore approaches on dealing with various emotions. Do you feel seen? Do you feel heard?

Daby Obiechefu is a multidisciplinary artist experienced in Realism painting, digital painting, performance, videography, installation and sculpture. Artistically, she is inspired by emotions, thoughts and experiences (her own and others). These are her stimuli, which aim to engage audiences, whilst creating an immersive and intriguing environment through the use of her multiple acquired techniques.

Obiechefu specialises in Conceptual art and this enabled her works to be featured in exhibitions across Stoke on Trent, Keele, Newcastle-under-lyme, Lichfield, Nottingham and even Zimbabwe. She has co-curated exhibitions and is one of the many talented members of Kwanzaa Collective UK*.
