Keele Creative Writing Anthology Vol.2

Launch event

Please join us for the launch of The Things We Write, the second volume of the new Keele creative writing anthology, and celebrate with us this collection of prose and poetry by Keele students.

The Anthology team are delighted to say that local writer Lisa Blower has agreed to write a foreword for the anthology and attend the launch.  Lisa Blower is an award-winning short story writer and novelist. Her latest novel ‘Pondweed’ is out in hardback and paperback with Myriad Editions, and has received rave reviews.

Her debut short story collection ‘It’s Gone Dark over Bill’s Mother’s’ was long listed for The Edge Hill Prize 2020, and features ‘Broken Crockery’, winner of The Guardian’s National Short Story competition, 2009 and won the Arnold Bennett prize in 2020.

Her debut novel ‘Sitting Ducks’ (Fair Acre Press) was shortlisted for the inaugural Arnold Bennett Prize, and long-listed for The Guardian Not the Booker 2016. Her work of memoir ‘A Pear in a Tin of Peaches’ on growing up in Stoke on Trent features in the critically acclaimed ‘Common People’ (ed. Kit De Waal)

Lisa is Senior Lecturer in Creative & Professional Writing at Wolverhampton University where she continues to champion working class fictions and regional voices. She lives in Shropshire.

There’ll be readings from the anthology, a lovely stack of the anthologies for you to buy and take home and, of course, free drinks and snacks.
