I am a Research Fellow in Applied & Environmental Geophysics. I arrived at Keele in 2001, after working for a year in industry and before that as a Research Assistant at the University of Liverpool.

I am a Fellow of the Geological Society of London, a member of the European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers, a member of the Seismological Society of America and a member of the American Geophysical Union.

My interests are in microseismic monitoring and use of microgravity for detection of cavities. I have been involved in several projects monitoring stability of mines using microseismic activity, including monitoring of the abandoned salt mines beneath Northwich town centre before and during the ground stabilisation project to enable regeneration of the town centre.

I have also worked on vibrations from wind turbines and the possible impact on seismically sensitive installations, including the CTBT IMS seismic array at Eskdalemuir in Scotland.

Since 2005 I have with involved with the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO). I have attended several training events, workshops and table top exercises for the On-Site Inspection (OSI) division. I was part of the Inspection Team for the Integrated Field Exercise in Kazakhstan in 2008. I am now involved with in second training cycle, training the next group of surrogate inspectors and the build-up the the next major exercise that will be held in Jordan in 2014.
