Flowering Cherries at Keele

Keele has long had a selection of flowering cherries. With the formation of the Arboretum it was decided to have flowering cherries as a speciality focus.

Also, as they only have a relatively short lifespan, we are in the process of adding new cherries to replace those planted when the University was founded.

The list belows covers all the 150+ varieties that we have. Not all have been photographed but the links will take you to a page with a short description and a series of photographs of those that have.

We are particularly grateful to Keele Alumni who, in memory of John Ivinson (1963-1967), funded many of these trees. We are also grateful Chris Sanders who advised on and sourced the majority of these trees.
