Keele Observatory

Welcome to Keele Observatory. It was founded in 1962 to host a 31cm refractor dating back to 1874. It has since acquired a 60cm reflector for research, and undergone significant refurbishment in 2009.
We welcome visits from schools and the public.

SOLAR ECLIPSE 12 AUGUST 2026

Together with our friends from Newchapel Observatory we are hosting a viewing event of the partial solar eclipse on the early evening of Wednesday 12 August 2026, on the Keele University campus (but NOT at the Keele Observatory site itself!) - see the What's On page for further details.

WEATHER WARNING: THIS EVENT WILL ONLY GO AHEAD IF WE CAN SEE THE SUN!
