Keele Students
All undergraduates are encouraged to take at least one language module during their time at Keele - there is no additional fee to pay.
You should normally register for a language module on-line through your electives choice form prior to coming to Keele. You will then be contacted via your Keele e-mail address to confirm that you are enrolled on the correct language module. Please contact us for advice on language levels (stages 1-10) prior to making your on-line selection or see Which Level do I choose? Languages electives are covered by your tuition fees and no additional payment is required.
If you do not have free-choice electives in your degree programme you are allowed to take one additional language module per academic year free of charge.
All students are entitled to at least one free module per year - additional fees only apply in the following cases:
- if you have a choice of language electives as part of your degree programme but decide to take language modules in addition to your 120 study credits you will need to pay a contribution towards the course costs of £150 for the first module, and £99 for a second module in the same language in the same year. Please fill in the Application form for Keele students as an additional module to their degree and return to us.
- if you do not have any free elective spaces and have already taken one module free of charge you are entitled to a bursary of £51 towards the cost of a second language module in the same academic year, reducing the cost to £99. Please contact us for detaills.
If you enrol and decide that you no longer wish to take a language module, you should email languages@keele.ac.uk with your intention to withdraw from the module by the end of Week 3 in the Autumn Semester and in Week 2 of the Spring Semester in order to receive a full refund. No refunds will be made after these weeks.
You may choose to enrol for one semester only or take a number of modules for more systematic language learning and the opportunity to achieve the Keele Certificates of Language Competence.
