NEW STAFF EQUALITY & DIVERSITY NETWORKS

As part of the University's commitment to making Keele a place where learning, living and working is a positive experience for all, we are launching three new staff networks:

  • A LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans) Staff Network
  • A Disabled Staff Network
  • A BME (Black & Minority Ethnic) Staff Network

Purpose

To provide a safe and supportive network working towards realising and developing equality for black and minority ethnic staff (BME), lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender (LGBT) staff, and disabled staff, (and others who may identify with these umbrella terms), within Keele University.

Terms of Reference

The following terms of reference will apply to all Keele University staff networks:

The networks are intended to:

  • Help provide a forum for staff to formulate, advise and feedback on University initiatives that encourage engagement and representation of BME, LGBT, and disabled people, in all aspects of University life.
  • Share ideas about the University policies and strategies that might impact upon staff.
  • Provide a safe and supportive networking opportunity for staff to meet across the University.

Additional Information:

  • The networks will meet quarterly, but may meet more frequently when matters necessitate. It is recognised that network members may not be able to attend all meetings, so are encouraged to liaise and discuss topics of interest via the members only online staff network forums.
  • The networks are open to all staff interested in supporting the specific equality agenda of the given network, regardless of grade, job family or contract length. Staff will be given time to attend meetings during work hours.
  • The Equality & Workforce Planning Manager will sit on each network ensuring feedback into key University decision making processes.
  • The Recruitment and Equalities Administrator will sit on each network ensuring the coordination and administration of the networks.
