Thinking of coming to Keele?
We welcome applications from disabled students and strive to provide effective support to meet individual needs.
All applications are considered against degree entry criteria. We make no presumptions about a disability and how it may affect you in relation to your chosen course and your application is considered on an individual basis. Your academic merit, potential and abilities will be considered first and foremost. However, we will work hard to remove many of the environmental barriers placed in the way of disabled students.
It is helpful if you let us know at the application stage if you have a disability so that we can support you in the best way possible. Disability & Dyslexia Support aim to contact all students who declare a disability on their application form. We will give you a little bit of information about us and what you should do to access support. Where necessary you may be invited to contact us or come and see us
We recommend that you visit the campus, especially if physical access may be an issue for you. We work hard to address any accessibility issues but some things are beyond our control. As a campus university places are relatively close together and easy to get to but, the campus is hilly in places.
It is important that the university and the course are right for you and you know what support is available. One of the team will be available to meet with you at our Open and Visit Days so do come along and say Hello and ask any questions you may have.
Open Days
Keele holds a number of Open Days each year which give prospective students the opportunity to visit the campus and learn more about Keele and university life in general. Please see this page to find out when the next open days are. Alternatively you can contact the Admissions and Recruitment Office on 01782 733949 / 734009 who can give more information and book a place for you to attend. If you cannot make it to an open day why not arrange an independent visit to the University or take our online virtual tour.
Visit Days
If you apply to Keele and are made an offer, we will invite you to a Visit Day. Visit days are held on certain Wednesdays and weekend days in February and March. Academic schools are open and you can have a tour of campus and see inside student accommodation. Admissions and other support staff (including staff from Disability & Dyslexia Support), and current students are also available to answer your questions.
If necessary we can arrange a mini visit where we can discuss your support and plan your support needs and improve any accessibility issues.
