Careers and Employability

Information for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Students

All the services that Careers and Employability offers are available to all students – our Statement of Service gives full details of these.  As a lesbian, gay, transgender or bisexual student, however, you can also access targeted resources and opportunities that might be valuable for your career planning and progression.

In the Careers and Employability Centre we have publications entitledDiversity Matters; Sexual Orientation and Diversity Matters; Transsexual and Transgender Issues which we are happy to copy for you. We also have a copy of Stonewall's Starting Out Careers Guide. This publication includes identifying employers, top tips for applications and case studies. See below for additional useful information.

We provide:

Drop-in Sessions
Drop-in sessions enable you to make initial contact with us for advice on researching information, careers decision making, work experience, access to vacancies, help with application and much more. These are held in the Careers and Employability Centre on a sign-up basis.

Guidance Interviews
We offer interviews to enable an in-depth, confidential discussion of career issues.

Workshops
We offer a range of workshops in the autumn and spring semesters - see our Events Calendar for details. These include applications, interviews, work experience and law related topics.
