Subject to validation

Physics with Renewable Energy BSc

Proposed for September 2023 entry, Physics with Renewable Energy BSc will be attractive to students who want a solid grounding in physics and mathematics, have a keen interest in the environment and sustainability, and who may envisage a career in renewable energy and the many related low-carbon industries.

Based on the foundation of our existing accredited Single Honours Physics degree and building on Keele’s commitment to sustainability, this programme aims to focus on:

  • the physics of renewable energy from wind, solar, hydroelectric, geothermal, nuclear fission and fusion;
  • the distribution of renewable energy and the national grid
  • energy efficiency, materials for renewable energy, storage solutions and batteries.

This distinctive course aims to produce highly employable graduates, building on the high-level numerical, programming, problem-solving, digital and presentational skills already embedded in our Single Honours Physics degree.

We will seek accreditation for Physics with Renewable Energy BSc from the Institute of Physics. Accreditation would be provisional until the first cohort graduates.

Sector-leading in sustainability

At Keele we're leading the sector in sustainability, not just in our ambitions to become carbon neutral by 2030 but also through our teaching and our groundbreaking research into climate change and renewable technologies. We were proud to be named Global Sustainability Institution of the Year at the International Green Gown Awards, 2021.
