Badcock Ecological Bursary

Award type: Cheque
Amount: announced annually in November

The bursary (endowed by Molly Badcock, former Lecturer in Ecological Sciences) is awarded annually to a postgraduate student working on an Ecological topic, to enable him/her to attend a reputable conference (such as the Winter Meeting of the British Ecological Society) at which papers will be presented which relate to the student's work or general ecological education. The award will be made on the recommendation of the supervisor in consultation with senior ecological staff by the Head of the School of Life Sciences. The main criterion will be the perceived merit of the student, but preference will be given to those in financial need and ineligible to claim funds from other sources.

The award will be paid on evidence of attendance and expenditure, but may be made available as an advance on application. If in any year there is no student of sufficient merit, or in sufficient need, the award will not be made, but the interest will be added to the capital sum invested.
