We currently offer the following CPD and flexible study options

The MRes Social Science Research Methods is designed to provide a thorough grounding in a range of research skills and methodologies essential to the systematic research practice demanded in many professional environments, or to pave the way to doctoral study in social science disciplines.

We offer a range of research methods modules that equip you with the skills to successfully conduct social research within a variety of educational and professional environments,  Modules may be taken on a stand-alone CPD basis, or they can be accumulated over a period of time in order to quality for a named award.

The modules are suitable for postgraduate students or those who are already working in professional fields in the public, private or third sectors eg. social or market research; health and social care; local and national government; or charitable and community organisations, who wish to update or develop their social research skills.  Full application details for all modules available for CPD attendance are listed below.

Research methods training offered in the School is recognised as fulfilling the requirements of the Economic & Social Research Council's (ERSC) postgraduate social science research training and development guidelines and maps onto the profile of the effective researcher developed by Vitae through its Researcher Development Framework.

Our MA Education programme is available to study via the standard full-time and part-time routes, and is also available to study via a more flexible modular route.  This means that you can accumulate degree credits by taking individual modules over a maximum study period of 5 years, and you can choose how many modules you wish to complete in any given year in order to qualify for a named award.  Application details for all modules available for flexible attendance are listed below.

Attendance on the modular route will give you the opportunity to study flexibly around your current work commitments without the need to give up your job.
