Two weeks to go
There's now only two weeks to go until you start your university experience at Keele. Make sure that you're up to date with everything that you need to do to prepare for starting university.
It can take a least a week from enrolment for your maintenance allowance from Student Finance to be paid into your bank account, and so you should make sure that you have enough money available to cover your living costs in the first week or so. For example, you may need money for food, travel, household goods and joining societies.
If you experience any issues with Student Finance and would like support, please get in touch with our Student Financial Support team at email@example.com.
For more information please visit our money and finance web pages for undergraduates and postgraduates.
If you're an international student, we recommend that you arrange around £300 GBP in cash, or on an internationally-accepted ATM bank card.
We offer a whole host of additional opportunities to help you develop your skills and expertise while you're a Keele student. It's natural to have questions about how to manage your studies, and so take a look at our resources to help you settle into university life, including to help you organise, plan and complete your work. Whether you want to develop your academic skills, digital skills, or career, we're here to provide you with the support you need.
You can order bedding, kitchen, bathroom kits and more, plus save 10% with discount code KEELE10 if you decide to order anything through Unikitout
The Great Donate a student-led scheme, will also be around during welcome week with a stall - Think used, good condition pots, pans, plates, cutlery, stationary, clothes hangers, etc.
It's green, it's cheap, and it raises funds for student sustainability projects... and it's one less thing to bring with you!
Find out more at The Great Donate on Facebook.
Take a look back at the previous countdown pages to check that you haven't missed any steps along the way. For example, you won't be able to enrol until we have been able to check your ID and you need to apply for a parking permit if you intend to use a car to get to campus for your lectures
Browse through the resources available online to help you with your transition to university. In the weeks leading up to starting university, it's natural to feel a little nervous and unsure of what's to come, and so you may want to take part in our events running before Welcome Week begins (all listed in the Keele App). If you're worried about something in particular, get in touch with the Student Services team who will be able to discuss this with you.
Finally, make sure that you have everything prepared to start university. If you'll be moving onto campus, make sure that you've arranged your transport and have a plan of how to transport your belongings.
You may have some questions or worries before starting your course, which is why we have a range of pre-arrival talks that you can sign up to attend online. Sessions will cover a range of topics including living on campus, looking after your wellbeing and money advice.
If you’re an international student and will be living on campus, make sure you have completed all of the necessary steps before you travel to the UK.
