Dr Szu Shen Wong
Szu is a pharmacist and biophysicist by training. Szu started hercareer in the cardio-respiratory area by completing a Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) audit for the Chesterfield Royal NHS Trust as part of her foundation pharmacist training. Szu then moved on to complete a PhD in biophysics (SPR and crystallography) investigating the interactions of Coagulation Factor XI with co-factors and substrates.
Her research interest are predominantly in thrombosis and haemostasis with a focus on coagulation factors – specifically coagulation factor XI. Szu’s laboratory forms the Keele Protein Production Facility (KPPF) – and is equipped for recombinant protein work from molecular biology, cell culture facilities (bacterial, insect and mammalian) to protein purification and characterisation.
