Human-centred computing

In our human-computer interaction (HCI) research we design, implement and evaluate interactive software and systems including smartphone apps, wearables, IoT (Internet of Things) devices, and virtual and augmented reality systems. Our interests span interaction methods and the design and evaluation of systems, and encompass applications in e-learning, digital health and digital heritage.

We hosted and organised the 35th International BCS Human-Computer Interaction Conference at Keele University, 11-13 July 2022. The conference theme was "Towards a Human-Centred Digital Society" and the three-day event comprised a full-programme of workshops, doctoral consortium, keynotes, parallel track presentations and an interactions gallery. Computer Science staff and PhD researchers made significant contributions to the programme, presenting and exhibiting HCI research relating to interaction design, e-learning, digital health and digital heritage.
