Keele ranked No.1 for Student Satisfaction

Keele University has been ranked first for student satisfaction in the National Student Survey (NSS) for the third year running.

The high-profile census, which asks undergraduate students about their course and university experiences, is commissioned by the Higher Education Funding Council for England. Keele has consistently ranked in the top 10 in recent years, and has retained the top spot (of broad-based universities) since 2014, with 2016 seeing overall satisfaction from Keele students at an amazing 94%.

The NSS results follow other top achievements this year, including:

  • University of the Year for Student Experience (The Times and The Sunday Times, 2017)
  • 1st for Student Satisfaction with Course (Guardian University League Table, 2017)
  • 1st for Employment (HESA - Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education, 2016)
  • 1st for Affordability (marbles.com, 2016)

Keele is also specifically ranked No. 1 in the NSS for subjects including Chemistry, Geology, Physical Geography & Environmental Science, and Physics & Astronomy - and has 19 other subject areas in the top 10.

Professor Trevor McMillan, Vice Chancellor said:

"We are delighted that Keele is first in the NSS for the third year running. It is interesting to see the impact of higher fees and the resultant increase in student expectations, on student satisfaction and the relative ranking of universities. It is becoming increasingly clear that academic quality, outstanding student support and high employability are the key priorities for the new generation of students. For Keele, ranking first for employability, satisfaction with course and a consistently high performance in NSS are all markers of the exceptional, high quality and rounded package we offer to students and their subsequent employers."

Jeff Wiltshire, Education Officer, Keele Students’ Union said:

“We are delighted that our students continue to have such a positive experience at Keele and we hope that students continue to get the most from their studies. At Keele Students' Union we are proud to provide services and facilities for students; as well as support our diverse community by amplifying their voice and offering a wide range of student activities. We believe it's important that students are given the opportunity to provide feedback about their time at Keele so that we can continue to improve the services that we offer.”
