Biography

Following 26 years working in the Global Pharmaceutical industry, I was appointed as the Head of the School of Pharmacy, here at Keele University. In addition to this I was also Chairman of the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Partnership NHS Trust board from 2011 until August 2015 and Chair of the Nursing and Midwifery Councils Appointments Board from 2012 to 2015.

I am a graduate in Pharmacy from The School of Pharmacy, University of London and also attained my PhD in Microbial Genetics there in 1985. I obtained a post graduate 3 year Diploma in Management studies at the UK West Midlands Regional Management School in 1989.

I have been fortunate to live and to work in 4 countries spread over 3 continents. UK, USA, Sweden and Japan.

I retired from AstraZeneca in April of 2011, my final position being a Global Vice President of Strategic Partnering and Business Development. Prior to that I held 4 other global Vice President positions within AstraZeneca. VP Global Project Development (Diabetes), VP Global Regulatory Affairs UK HUB, VP Global Regulatory Affairs Executive, VP Global Cardiovascular Regulatory Affairs.

In January 2017 I was elected Chairman of the Universities UK Heads of Pharmacy Schools Council. I am also a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Education Advisory Board. I am an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology and a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
