Biography

I joined the School of Pharmacy - formerly known as Dept. of Medicines Management in 2000 from a background in community pharmacy and latterly within primary care where I was Head of Medicines Management for a Primary Care Trust. Initially I supported the Medicines Evaluation Unit at Keele University and was involved in writing reviews and guidance for the Midlands Therapeutic Review and Advisory Committee (MTRAC), in addition to providing educational support to the postgraduate community programme. In 2002, I was promoted to the role of Prescribing Studies Programme Manager. My role as Prescribing Studies Programme Manager included developing and delivering the Pharmacist Independent Prescribing course. I have a special interest in non-medical prescribing and I am a qualified Pharmacist Independent Prescriber. I have retained my interest in the prescribing programme at Keele despite taking on more strategic roles within the School. I was responsible for the development of a 'clinically enhanced' prescribing programme in 2014. In 2018 I was promoted to Reader in Prescribing Education and took on the role as Academic Director for CPD4ALL. I am a member of the Staffordshire and Shropshire Local Professional Network and Chair the Local Pharmacy Forum. I am an executive committee member of the Association for Prescribing. In 2014 I was accepted into the Faculty of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
