Biography

Registered Mental Health Nurse since 1999 and worked for Combined Healthcare until January 2020 to take up the post of lecturer in nursing studies, having previously taught at the University of Manchester and Staffordshire University. Worked in a wide variety of both in-patient and out-patient settings, across a wide spectrum of mental health problems and age groups. Independent Non-Medical Prescriber. MSc Advancing Clinical Practice (2021). Awarded Chief Nursing Officer for England Silver Medal for Nursing Excellence in 2019. Disability Liaison Officer (School of Nursing and Midwifery).

Research and scholarship

Academic interest areas are child and adolescent mental health; pharmacology and non-medical prescribing; clinical judgement and decision-making.

Teaching

BSc Future Nurse - pharmacology, evidence-based practice, leadership and clinical judgement and decision-making.

Post-registration - health assessment, non-medical prescribing, clinical judgement and decision-making.

Academic Mentor/Academic Assessor to part 1 BSc Future Nurse students.

Further information

Outside my working life, I'm very active - gym, running, walking the dogs and golf. I've been a season ticket holder at Manchester City since 1998. I read a lot - Stephen King and American history.
