Biography

Clare is Chief Assistant Dean for CDUTCM-Keele Joint Health and Medical Sciences Institute, integrating Chinese and Western cultures; fostering strong health and medical academic links through the development of robust joint programmes and research activities. In the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Clare is the programme Lead for the MSc Nursing (Leadership and Research) and the MSc Midwifery (Leadership and Research).

Clare has extensive experience in curriculum design, having developed nursing programmes to meet PSRB standards. More recently she has developed a MSc in Global Healthcare Leadership for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Science on behalf of health Education England. Clare is a senior fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is a member of the School of Nursing and Midwifery, senior executive team.

Clare’s research interests include nurse academic identity and the contribution of nurse academics to the clinical practice environment. Clare has presented her doctoral research nationally and internationally. Clare is also in the process of publishing her research and is a faculty board member for the School of Medicines, Health Professions Education Research group. 

Externally, Clare is External Examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons (Bahrain) BSc nursing programme and ​an advisory member for the national NIHR Incubator for Clinical Education Research.

Clare is a NMC registrant, ​Member of the Royal College of Nursing and RCN Education Forum. She is an experienced nurse, having previously practised in a range of acute surgical settings including as a Urology Advanced Nurse Practitioner and in Higher Education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
