Biography

Rachel joined Keele University in 2022 as a lecturer in Paramedic Science. Since joining Rachel has led the first year 'Introduction to Professional Practice for Paramedics' module and second year 'Pharmacology and Medicines Management in Paramedic Practice' module. Now Rachel leads on the second year 'Introduction to Evidence-based Practice and Research' module and third year 'Older Persons and Frailty' module as well as teaching on other Paramedic Science MSci modules and other programmes of study within the university. Rachel is the interprofessional-education (IPE) lead and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) lead for the Paramedic Science programme, is a Disability Inclusion Tutor for some post-graduate programmes, and is a member of the School of Medicine School-Student Project Ethics Committee (S-SPEC).

Prior to joining Keele, Rachel was a Senior Lecturer at Edge Hill University. Here she completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education (PGCTHE). Before this, Rachel worked in clinical practice as a paramedic working for the North West Ambulance Service, with experience of working on a double-crewed ambulance, solo response on a rapid response vehicle and being a Practice Educator for student paramedics. Rachel also participated in a frailty pilot project, working alongside physiotherapists and occupational therapists to attend frailty related 999 calls, forging alternate care pathways, developing direct hospital admissions, and completing falls referrals in the community. Rachel has also worked as a paramedic for the London Ambulance Service. Rachel completed a BSc (Hons) in Paramedic Science in 2015 at the University of Hertfordshire.
