Biography

Marty is a Lecturer in Public Health working in the School of Medicine. She completed an undergraduate degree in Mathematics at Keele University and a master’s in Statistics with Medical Applications at the University of Sheffield. In 2020, Marty completed her PhD in applied epidemiology and statistics at Keele University, titled "Investigating health and work participation in later working life: multi-state modelling of Healthy Working Life Expectancy using national population datasets".

Marty is involved with research and teaching at the School of Medicine. Marty teaches applied epidemiology and quantitative research methods as part of undergraduate and postgraduate Public Health degree programmes.

Research and scholarship

Marty’s research focuses on healthy ageing in later working life, and development of the statistical methods used for this. Her work uses the health expectancy indicator Healthy Working Life Expectancy (HWLE) as a measure of population health and wellbeing.

Marty supports research projects in the School of Medicine.

Teaching

Marty leads two taught modules on applied epidemiology and research methods in the Public Health undergraduate degree. Marty also leads the undergraduate Public Health final year research dissertation module.

Marty is module lead for two taught modules (applied epidemiology and statistics) in the Online Master’s in Public Health.
