Biography

Deanne is a Lecturer on the MSc Psychotherapy and Counselling programme at Keele University and is a Person-centred practitioner and a clinical and pastoral supervisor. Deanne trained at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute in Nottingham and completed a study on the experiences of Black women in counselling training as part of her Master’s research. Hearing the voices of minority groups around race, faith and spirituality in counselling training and the counselling and supervision settings has led Deanne to write several chapters in edited books. Alongside a private practice, clinical work has included setting up a counselling service in a secondary school and working with a charity offering counselling to adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, including counselling survivors detained in the prison setting. Much of Deanne’s pastoral supervision includes working with clergy and headteachers.
