Study design

To investigate the effect of gout on quality of life using a postal survey of primary care gout patients from 20 practices across Staffordshire and Shropshire.  Participants will be sent a survey to complete at 6, 12, 24 and 36 months, and their responses compared with data from medical record review of their general practice record.  A series of in-depth qualitative interviews with patients with gout will also be carried out.
