Support for users with Disabilities

Need more help or have a question?
Contact - tel: +44 (0)1782 734159 or email: library.help@keele.ac.uk.

We want everyone to be able to make full use of the Library facilities. We have a range of services and assistive technology to support users with disabilities or learning differences.

There is an accessible side entrance on the ground floor of the campus library. You'll need to arrange Keele card entry for this with the Library. We have lifts to all floors and a wheelchair accessible toilet on the ground floor, accessed via the universal RADAR key. There is a car park for blue badge holders, access is barrier-controlled with your Keele card (when enabled).

All our PCs are loaded with assistive software, including JAWS screen reader. For further information on software availability, please see IT Services assistive facilities page. We also offer several height adjustable tables throughout the building and a bookable study room specifically for audio or visually impaired students.

If you require material in an alternative format, such as electronically, you can request this service through Disability Support and Inclusion. SensusAccess, an online software that students and staff can use to automatically convert documents into a range of alternative formats, is also available.
If you have a query regarding alternative formats please tel: +44 (0)1782 733239 or email: library.scanning@keele.ac.uk.

We want to help you make the best use of the library and its resources. We can provide a book-fetch service if you cannot access the shelving for any reason.
Alternatively, you may like to use our Click & Collect or Postal Loans services.
If you wish to discuss specific needs prior to a visit, please contact library.help@keele.ac.uk or call on +44 (0)1782 734159

We're always happy to run individual library inductions at any time of the year, which can be tailored to your specific requirements. We can help you find out about library services on a one-to-one basis.

You can request for someone else to speak to library staff on your behalf, but to comply with GDPR you must complete the Library Delegated Access Form.

If you have a disability or condition which could impact on your ability to evacuate the building there are refuge areas, emergency evacuation platforms and evacuation chairs on the fire stairs at each end of the building. A member of staff will offer assistance as soon as possible. Please refer to your Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan if applicable.
