Biography

LL.B (Nottingham, Solicitor (1990), JP

I graduated from Nottingham University in 1987 with a first-class honours degree in law.

Completed the Law Society Finals at the College of Law in Chester.

Qualified as a solicitor in 1990.

Practised Criminal law and Family Law until 1993 when I joined Staffordshire University as a law lecturer.

I have lectured on the LL.B and LPC at Staffordshire University for 20 plus years before becoming a Teaching Fellow of Criminal Law at Keele University and King’s College London.

I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

I am an External Examiner and (when time permits), I sit as a magistrate.

Research and scholarship

I am co-author of Criminal Litigation currently in its 13th edition and published by OUP. Criminal Litigation is utilised on several LPC courses. It covers Criminal Procedure and Criminal Evidence. The text has an accompanying Online Resource Centre with lots of extras!

Teaching

My teaching and research interests lie in the Criminal Law/Evidence field. I have taught Criminal Evidence, Criminal Litigation and Advocacy and Criminal Law for more years than I care to remember. I am passionate about teaching and like to work my students hard!
