Flexible Digital Education
This framework supports programme and module leads to design educational delivery that is flexible, and can be adapted to different contexts, from online-only to different types of blended provision.
In its 10 elements, the Framework emphasises online collaboration, community and engagement. This is to provide a foundation for online-only provision in the event that we need to rely on, or prioritise, this mode of education. However, the template also - and emphatically - serves as a more general set of guidelines for educational delivery at Keele.
It suggests elements of digital resource and collaboration that can underscore an authentically blended education - a platform for the social learning that is at the heart of our Education Vision. These are mapped on to typical stages or aspects of module delivery. The Framework can be adapted to Faculty or School level to better fit the character of modules delivered in a local context, but the elements are chosen to be as universal as possible.
The basic Framework is supplemented by a range of suggested digital solutions, tools and practices that can facilitate each phase. KIITE and IDS colleagues have collated a menu of possible solutions and enhancements, and we’ll refine and add to these resources. This menu of resources draws on both familiar and new capabilities: those we have in our VLE, in the Microsoft Teams platform and its associated Office 365 tools, and through other digital tools and educational resources deployed and supported by the University.
KIITE are developing a series of workshops to support teaching and learning design and delivery for the 2021/2022 academic year. Each workshop will be available on multiple dates, recordings will be made available to ensure they reach a maximum audience, and the EdTech Team space is being developed to support continuous ‘conversational’ learning and sharing best practice following the workshops. Details of these workshops can be seen on the intranet pages.
