Shiva Sikdar

Biography

I am a Senior Lecturer in Economics. Prior to joining Keele in 2012, I was at Yonsei University, South Korea and the National University of Singapore. I received my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Calcutta, India. I hold a Ph.D. from Iowa State University, USA.

I am an applied microeconomist with research interests in the economics of discrimination, international trade and environmental policies. I have analyzed policies to mitigate the effect of negative stereotypes, the role of identity-blind hiring policies and efficient diversity-enhancement policies. I also work on non-cooperative environmental policies. Currently, I coordinate Keele's Race Equality Lecture series.

Research and scholarship

My general research field is applied microeconomics. Methodologically, my research uses mainly game-theoretic approaches to individual and government behaviour.
