Biography

Dr Pattanapong Tiwasing (Patt or Oak) is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Data Analytics and Economics at Keele Business School, Keele University. He holds a PhD in Agricultural and Applied Economics from Newcastle University. He is a bilingual academic, Thai and English, with breadth and depth of skills in data analysis and econometric modelling. Prior to this role, Pattanapong was a Researcher in Rural Enterprise at the Rural Policy Centre at Scotland's Rural College (SRUC) and used to work as a Research Fellow and Data Analyst at the Centre for Business in Society (CBiS) at Coventry University. Also, he was employed as a Research Associate in Rural Enterprise at the Centre for Rural Economy (CRE) at Newcastle University. Before pursuing his career in the UK, Pattanapong used to work as a Lecturer in Agribusiness at Chandrakasem Rajabhat University in Bangkok, Thailand and a researcher at the Thai Health Promotion Foundation, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Public Health in Thailand.

Pattanapong's research interests encompass various areas, including Rural Enterprise, Small Business Economics, Rural Digital Economy, Online Business Networks, Spatial disparities in SME productivity, Economics of Digitalisation, Economics of Innovation, Big data analysis, Edible Insects and Sustainable Consumption, Food Security, and Agricultural Sustainability. Since 2018, he has successfully secured funding from both national and international organisations such as ESRC Productivity Insights Network (PIN), Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), Enterprise Research Centre, Newton Fund Institutional Links, Scottish Government, and Thai Royal Government. He has served as both a principal investigator and co-investigator on these projects, collaborating with academics and government agencies to advance research in these areas. Additionally, he contributed his expertise as a grant reviewer for the British Council (Newton Fund) between 2018 and 2020. Currently Pattanapong serves as an Associate Editor (Quantitative Studies) of the International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
