IAU Summer School
The annual IAU Summer School offers comprehensive training in knowledge mobilisation to accelerate impact. This is a fantastic opportunity for clinicians, academics and members of the public to improve their knowledge and understanding of the practical ways to design and use knowledge mobilisation theories and strategies in health and care practice.
Guest speakers have included John Gabbay (ARC East of England (nihr.ac.uk) and Andree le May (ARC East of England (nihr.ac.uk), implementation science experts in the theoretically informed approach of Mindlines.
Sessions are delivered by renowned NIHR Knowledge Mobilisation Fellows, Patient and Public Involvement experts, policy and NHS managers and clinical academics.

CAT in a day
This annual one-day event will help you to learn how to mobilise evidence into practice using Critically Appraised Topic (CAT) Methodology.
It is open to clinicians, managers and commissioners to support translation of best evidence into practice. Experienced facilitators take participants through the process of identifying areas of concern for teams and refine a clinical question from this discussion. Experienced librarians then identify key sources of evidence. The session includes how to critically appraise literature. The day concludes with a summary of findings and how to influence change in services.
This session is suitable for clinical and non-clinical staff and includes small facilitated group work during the day. For queries, please contact Nicki Evans.
The STarT Back approach
The Impact Accelerator Unit offers training in the STarT Back approach – Stratified Care for low Back Pain. This training looks at the assessment and management of low back pain and specifically focuses on upskilling physiotherapists and physical therapists to better manage the distressed and disabled (high risk) subgroup of patients.
This course is in two parts and includes; Pain psychology; Communication skills; Psychosocial assessment; Explaining pain; Shifting the agenda; Values based goal setting; Exposure
