Biography

While building a successful career Chris Jolly is immersing himself in all aspects of music. He performs throughout Europe and the world, is a published composer and a dedicated educator in a wide variety of educational settings.

Chris has worked with and continues to work with some of the UK’s top ensembles such as Quirk Saxophone Quartet, Equinox Saxophone Ensemble, SF8, ReedPlay and the National Concert Orchestra. His versatility on the saxophone sees him being just as comfortable in the world of jazz playing with the Woodchoppers Big Band, The Syd Lawrence Orchestra, Glenn Miller Tribute Orchestra, Chris Dean Big Band, New Squadronaires, Paul Pashley Band and Just Jazz. Chris has worked with Joseph Horovitz while recording a selection of his quartet music on both clarinet and baritone saxophone with ReedPlay. He has also recorded the latest CD release from Equinox playing tenor saxophone. Often commissioned to write new music, Chris has composed works for premières at the Purcell Room in London and the World Saxophone Congress in St Andrews. While incorporating accessible extended techniques in his compositions, his music is enjoyed by both performer and listener. He has original works published and recorded through Clarinet and Saxophone Classics and arrangements published with Saxtet Publications. He is developing his music for the commercial world while working with companies writing bespoke tracks for promotional use.
