Biography

Retired after working for many years in Adult and Further Education.  I completed my doctorate studies in 2013 after research in American Studies.  The title of my thesis was La Frontera: Contesting the Cultural Construction of the US-Mexico Border. Since becoming an honorary research fellow, I have undertaken the cataloging and supervision of the David Bruce Centre Library and Resources.

Research and scholarship

In 1980, for my Master of Education thesis at the University of Manchester, I researched the function of counselling in Further Education.  In 1986 for a Master of Science (Management) I undertook a project entitled Self Development and the Management of Change.  I am currently engaged with research into the history and community involvement of the original Victoria Theatre in Stoke on Trent.
