Biography

Clair Stanley began playing the violin at the age of 3 and among her teachers were David Hadwen, Walter Verdehr, Benedict Holland, Jiri Tomasek, Carmel Kaine and Emanuel Hurwitz. Clair studied at the Royal Northern College of Music then moved to America to do a Masters at Michigan State University. Whilst in America she played with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and lead many Broadway shows which featured Marie Osmond, Jerry Lewis and Liza Minelli to name but a few.

Clair has also played with such orchestras as the Orchestra of the Swan, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the Halle, The Northern Sinfonia and The Glenn Miller Orchestra. She has also performed alongside Gil Shaham, Itzhak Perlman, Russell Watson, Burt Bacharach and Edgar Meijer.

Clair currently manages to divide her time between playing professionally with such well known groups as the Highly Strung String Quartet and a very busy teaching schedule at Trent College, Stafford Grammar School, Yarlet School, Madeley High School and Castle House School.
