The central theme of the module will be an examination of Britishness: what it is and how it has developed over time. The module will examine British culture at the local level (The Potteries and regional dialects), the national level (the political system and the monarchy) and the international level (Britain's place in the world). This module is open only to students with a non-British educational background, or by prior arrangement with the module tutor.

Description of Module Assessment
1: Reflective Analysis weighted 70%Reflective JournalStudents produce an analytical account detailing their experiences of British culture. This will take the form of eight weekly journal entries each consisting of not less than 180 words each.
2: Project weighted 30%Video ProjectIn groups, students produce a 10-15 minute video documentary about one of the themes covered during the input sessions. All videos will be presented for public viewing.
