‌Prof. Toby Bruce, Dr William Kirk and Dr Clare Hoskins have just returned from a week-long workshop at the Federal University of São Carlos, Brazil. It was held as part of a joint research project between Keele University and the Federal University of São Carlos, and is funded by a BBSRC-FAPESP Newton Fund Joint Pump-Priming Award. The project has the title ‘Chemical study of insect-plant interactions: a contribution to biorational control of crop pests’ and aims to find novel nanotech formulations for managing insect pests on crops. Keele and FAPESP (the research funding agency of São Paulo state) also have an ongoing research agreement with joint-funded lectureships.
