Prunus 'Matsumae-beni-murasaki'

Selected and raised by Mr Masatoshi Asari in Matsumae at the southern tip of Hokkaido, Northern Japan in 1961 from crossing Prunus 'Edo-zakura' with a Sato-zakura.

Fragrant huge, pink, semi-double flowers turning light pink and white. It is an upright to spreading tree with toothed, mid-green leaves, bronze in spring and turning orange and red in autumn.
