Prunus hirtipes 'Malifolia'

Discovered by E.H. ‘Chinese’ Wilson at altitudes up to 1500 m in the mountains of W. Hubei and Sichuan, Central China in 1900 and introduced to the West in 1907

It is a tree with an elegant habit, flowering from early March to April. Fragrant pinkish-white flowers c.3 cm dia. after carmine-red buds. Slightly later flowering than the type.
