Accommodation for clearing applicants

As a campus university, Keele has over 2,700 bedrooms on site, with a range of accommodation available and all within a short walk of the centre of campus.  We guarantee to find you accommodation as a clearing applicant.

For students who join us through Clearing, there will be a limited number of rooms available on campus. However, if our on-campus accommodation is full, our Student Accommodation team can support students in finding accommodation in the local area.

We have a dedicated local area accommodation website www.keelestudentpad.co.uk where we invite landlords who have been accredited by a landlord accreditation scheme to advertise their properties, and there is a rigorous checking process in place to ensure we only advertise accredited landlords with valid safety certificates.

In 2022, there were just over 2300 rooms in purpose-built student accommodation in the Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke-on-Trent area, and a further 1800 house-shares / smaller properties, many of which were advertised on www.keelestudentpad.co.uk.

We can offer students advice and guidance in finding the right accommodation option for them and are happy to talk through choices over the telephone.

For those students who apply for on-campus accommodation during Clearing but it is full, in addition to helping you to find off-campus accommodation, we will also provide you with a free bus pass for the year* - terms and conditions apply.

You can apply for accommodation if:

  • You have waited for 48 hours following acceptance of your Keele offer via UCAS track, this is important as the system needs time to process your acceptance.
  • You have your Keele University student number. We will send this once you have applied for a course via UCAS. This is an 8 digit number and is your identification in the system.
  • You have decided what accommodation to apply for. There are some en suite bedrooms still available but these will be in high demand so it is a good idea to look at a non en suite alternative as well.

If after 48 hours, you are still unable to register please email the Student Accommodation team a screenshot of what you are typing in to register - accommodation@keele.ac.uk.

If you have submitted an application for campus accommodation and it is full we will help you find accommodation in the local area with our accredited landlords. If this happens, we will also give you a free bus pass for the buses that run to campus every 10 minutes during term time.

Please note that the offer of a bus pass does not apply to students living in University accommodation, living in the family home or students who find their own off campus accommodation and have not applied for University accommodation. This also includes applicants who have declined or failed to accept an offer of university accommodation.
