Application FAQ

Below you will find answers to our most frequently asked questions about how to apply for student accommodation. If you have any questions that aren't answered below, you can view our other FAQs or contact us directly.

New students

Yes - all students wishing to be allocated University accommodation must make an application before the deadline (30th June).  If you apply after the deadline you will be lower down the priority list.

We guarantee to find you accommodation as a clearing applicant.  If you have submitted an application for campus accommodation and it is full we will help you find accommodation in the local area with our accredited landlords. If this happens, we will also give you a free bus pass for the buses that run to campus every 10 minutes during term time.

They are allocated in various Halls of Residence throughout the University.

You will be sent an e-mail with a link to the accommodation portal after you have confirmed your place to study at Keele. When you receive this you will be able to make an application for accommodation.

To accommodate as many Freshers as we can, some students will be asked to share on a temporary basis.  We try to minimise the amount of time you will share for.  As soon as we can we move those who are sharing into their own rooms.

Temporary shared rooms have bunk beds but otherwise are as standard rooms with desk, chair, wardrobe and shelves.

Please see How and when to apply for application dates.

We are not able to offer accommodation to part time or modular students.

Please make sure you have accepted your course offer at Keele and you are using the correct details.  Check out our Accommodation portal problems help page for more advise.  Please contact us if you continue to have issues.

This is what you used when you registered your details, if you have forgotten this please don't worry. You can reset this easily on the accommodation portal where you applied - click the reset password button.

Please don't panic, contact us to discuss this before you do anything.

If you are unhappy with the offer sent to you, don't reject this immediately, please contact us before you do anything. If you reject the offer we can't guarantee that we will be able to make you a new offer.

You are not able to reapply on the accommodation portal if you have previously rejected an offer of accommodation.  However, please email accommodation@keele.ac.uk to discuss this and if we have availability we will be happy to help.

You can apply for particular Halls of Residence and bedroom types.  However, we do recommend that you do not apply for 3 of the same room types in different halls. It is better if you apply for at least 2 different room types.

We ask that this is paid before the 31st August (but we won't request this until we make you an offer of accommodation). The £450 advance payment is made up of £150 deposit against any damage charges and £300 towards your first rent installment.
