As an International student you will be able, if you wish, to live in University accommodation provided you apply for it by the appropriate deadline. We have a variety of room types in four Halls of Residence.

Room fees for the 1st semester, 2nd semester and full year can be found here.

If you are coming to Keele with your family, whether staying for a whole semester or full academic year, we can offer help and advice on finding accommodation in the local area. You should contact us separately for this.

If you wish to live off campus, there is advice on our website including adverts for local properties available for students.

  • September arrivals - in March or within 48 hours of accepting your study place at Keele, whichever date is later
  • January arrivals - after 1st October or within 48 hours of accepting your study place at Keele, whichever date is later
  • If you haven’t previously made an online accommodation application you will need to create a user account before you can apply. You will need to register on the Keele Accommodation Portal. This is a simple process. You will receive an email to confirm that you have created the account.
  • You will be able to make your application for accommodation from March onwards through the Keele Accommodation Portal. You will need to register an account the first time that you log in and create a password. Your username is your Student ID number.  Once you have logged in you will need to select the next academic year applications on the following screen in order to make your application. Please do not select the current academic year – your application will be void.
  • We have a ‘3 strikes and out’ security feature which will block your access to the portal for 20 minutes. Make sure that you know your password and type it correctly.
  • We will use your Keele email address for any correspondence. We will send mailings from accommodation@keele.ac.uk address. Please do set this address as a ‘safe sender’ to avoid losing important information from us into your spam folder.
  • On the first page of the application it will ask “For completion by Erasmus, Non-UK Exchange and Study Abroad students only. What is your period of Study? (Students studying for less than a year are not automatically eligible for accommodation in University residence)”.  It is very important that you compete correctly so that you get the correct offer.
  • If you have a disability or health issue that requires you to have specific accommodation, please make sure that you complete the relevant section on the application and contact Disability Support & Inclusion to register with them.
  • We will do our best to meet your requirements, however we cannot guarantee that we will be able to allocate your first preference of room type. You therefore need to complete all sections of the accommodation application form, indicating your second and third preferences too.
  • Submit your application as soon as possible - late applications may affect your priority for accommodation.
  • You can check your application at any time and edit your application if you change your mind on the Accommodation Portal. If you do make a change this will not affect your application submitted date.
  • After submitting your application you will receive an email confirmation – if you do not receive this within 24 hours please contact us‌‌.
  • To ensure there is enough accommodation for everyone who accepts a place at Keele University a number of temporary shared rooms are available at the begining of each semester.  If you share on arrival, you will be found a single room as soon as there is availability.  Whilst sharing, you will pay 50% of the total cost of the room.  When a student moves out of a shared room the fee is adjusted for both the student who remains in the room.  Each occupant then become liable for the full 100% cost of the room from the start of the occupancy period.
  • Rooms are allocated in a random order.
  • You will be e-mailed to say that you have received an offer of accommodation at Keele. You have 3 days from the day that the e-mail is sent to you to accept this offer. If you fail to accept this offer please e-mail accommodation@keele.ac.uk straight away and we will try to help you. If you decline this offer no further offer will be made to you.
  • Once the Agreement is accepted you have a 7 day 'cooling-off period'. This means that if within 7 working days of accepting the Agreement you change your mind and notify us by email of that fact, you will be released from the Agreement. The contract is legally binding and if you change your mind you will still be liable for accommodation fees. You can only be released from the contract in exceptional circumstances such as taking a Leave of Absence or Withdrawing from the University. You may transfer your licence to another student as long as the transfer is done with the knowledge and prior written approval of the University Student Accommodation team. The new licensee should be a suitable replacement which means that the balance of sexes and nationalities is not adversely affected within the accommodation.
  • Kitchen facilities are available in all residences and you must provide your own cooking utensils. A variety of other restaurant facilities are available on the campus and a Keele Card, which ‌allows you to make purchases at a discount in most food outlets, will be issued AFTER you arrive at Keele.
