Which occupancy to choose
Semester 1: For our visiting students joining us from one of our partners universities for semester 1 or our Keele University students who are going to study abroad with one of our partner Universities in semester 2
37 weeks: For most of our Foundation year or Undergraduates and covers the whole of both semesters
40 weeks: For our students joining who are studying with our vets school or if you are staying in our sustainability bungalow
51 weeks: For our Nursing and Midwifery students, all of our Postgraduates and anyone already knows that they will need our accommodation throughout the summer 2022 vacation period
Accommodation fees for 2022/23 January entry
Students who are joining their course in January may apply for accommodation from November onwards. There will be limited accommodation available and offers will only be made subject to the suitability and availability of any vacant rooms.

No need to worry about added extras, our rents include utility bills and contents insurance. The University provides free wifi and access to 24 hour security and support services.
For 2021/22 cleaning is provided in communal areas, kitchens and all bathrooms only.
Adapted room
We offer a number of adapted rooms for students with specific needs. Available in Holly Cross, Oaks and Barnes W, Y & Z blocks. Please contact Disability Services to arrange for an assessment.
Halls of residence
Barnes Hall – close to the Medical School, with two launderettes, a bar and common room - 5 minute walk to centre of campus.
Horwood Hall – close to centre of campus with own launderette, close to Students’ Union, Health Centre and shops – 5 minute walk to centre of campus.
Lindsay Hall – sits on the south side of campus with own common room, bar and launderette – 10 minute walk to centre of campus.
Holly Cross & Oaks – sits on the south side of campus with own common room and launderette – 15 minute walk to centre of campus.
The fixed dates of occupancy for the 2021/22 academic year
All rooms include the Christmas and Easter vacation.
- 37 weeks - this covers the whole of both semesters: Saturday 25 September 2021 – Saturday 11 June 2022
- 40 weeks - Veterinary School occupancy period: Saturday 25 September 2021 - 2 July 2022
- 44 weeks - arrive before the rush and stay until just after your graduation (not suitable for Freshers): Saturday 18 September 2021 – Saturday 23 July 2022
- 51 weeks - ideal for students who need to be here during the summer vacation and for postgraduate and Nursing & Midwifery students: Saturday 25 September 2021 – Saturday 17 September 2022

The University has a limited number of rooms available for January start students. If we are unable to accommodate you on campus we will assist you in finding accommodation locally within the private sector.

January arrivals
Courses start and finish at different times, depending on the programme of study, for students beginning their course in January.
- All contracts will start in January.
- Contracts will end in either June, July or September, depending on your programme of study.
It may be possible to extend your stay with us on campus by applying for our Vacation Accommodation.
The length of occupancy for January arrivals for the 2021/22 academic year
All rooms include the Easter vacation.
Foundation Year - 27 weeks
Postgraduate Taught Courses - 34.5 weeks-37 weeks
Semester 2 only (including EU and Study Abroad) - 20.5 weeks

You will receive notification that an offer of accommodation has been made to you via email and you will be asked to log into our accommodation portal to review the offer.
We will use your Keele email address except if you are a new student, where we will initially use your personal email address for any correspondence. Please ensure that you do not use your school email - this will be de-activated before we send out offers of accommodation.
We will send mailings from accommodation@keele.ac.uk address. Please set this address as a ‘safe sender’ to avoid losing important information from us into your spam folder.
When you receive an offer of accommodation will very much depend upon your entry period and whether you are a returning or new or new vet school student.
The table below gives you an indication of when you can expect an offer so that you can keep an eye on your emails.

- Offers of accommodation cannot be changed. There will be a waiting list at the start of the next academic year if you wish to change rooms, but this is subject to availability.
- If we have more applications than rooms available, a small number of September entry students will be offered a temporary shared room at the start of term.
- Offers of accommodation cannot be changed. You will need to consider the offer that has been made to you.
To enable you to take part in specific induction activities, your occupancy date will start on
- Wednesday 21 September 2022 for September arrivals
- Wednesday 20 January 2023 for January arrivals
You will be charged for an additional 3 days to allow for this. You can see the adjusted final cost here.
Arrival before the start of your occupancy period is subject to availability and there will be an additional daily charge for each night you use the accommodation before the start of your occupancy period. The daily charge is 1/7 the cost of the advertised weekly charge. More information about arriving early is available here.
You will need to pay a £450 Advance Payment by 31 August for September arrivals and as soon as possible after accepting your offer for January arrivals.
This payment consists of a £150 room deposit that is refundable when you leave (less any charges for damage) and a £300 advance payment which will be deducted from your first instalment of accommodation fees.
You will then pay by instalments on these payment dates.
