Virtual workshop

Virtual Workshop

Join Caroline Muraldo, director of Muraldo DC for a virtual workshop that covers the history of traditional African, Caribbean and Black British dance.

Caroline Muraldo is a dancer, teacher and choreographer who acts, sings, is a storyteller and makes costumes among other creative pursuits, including running a carnival band: Muraldo Mas. She is the artistic director of Muraldo DC, a Christian performing company specialising in dance of African heritage. The company performs, teaches all ages and organises events.

Caroline was the lead dance artist on 'Taking Up Space' a poetry dance project with Kwanzaa Collective UK and Urban Wilderness CIC. The project is based on the experiences of black and brown women walking in Staffordshire. A film of 'Taking Up Space' by Cynthia Coady can be viewed in the Strong, British and Black exhibition.

The second hour will be movement, so wear appropriate clothing and be bare-footed.
